Supervised sailing at RSC falls into three main groups:
  • Racing - provided on Sundays and, from May to August, on Wednesday evenings.
  • Family - arranged on various Saturdays through the spring and summer months.
  • Events - including Int 14 Open, 6 Hour Race, Club Regatta.
For more information see our calendar.

Most members have their own boats but we do have a selection of club boats available for use. Most boats sailed on Troy Lake are single handed (Solo and Laser being the most popular) but members also sail crewed boats, including: Firefly, Int 14 , RS200, and Laser 2000 dinghies.

Race training sessions are provided, these are intended to help members take a confident part in racing or to improve their racing skills. The supervised family sailing days also provide the opportunity for informal tuition.

The Club own a weed harvester which is used to keep the Troy Lake in good sailing condition when many other clubs are plagued by weed.

Our Club House not only features changing rooms with hot showers but also a galley for hot drinks and a licensed bar serving refreshments (where the days sailing can be discussed at leasure).

Social events are held at the Club. Regular events include: the Summer Family BBQ (held after the 6 hour Race), our Summer Lunch and the Christmas Lunch. The Wednesday evening BBQ, which follows the evening race, is also popular (members bring their own food to cook on our comunial BBQ). Other events are also arranged.

Our large boat shed is a valued asset, especially for wooden boats that like to be kept dry and out of the sun.

The club has a long and proud history. New members receive a book telling the story of RSC from its' beginning in 1930. The club started at Rickmansworth's Aquadrome then moved to its' present site in 1959 and bought the lake from Portland Cement in 1971. Until the early 90s racing was confined to three classes: Fireflys, Int 14s and Mirrors. Today racing is arranged around a handicap fleet but the regular presence of Fireflys and Int 14s reflect earlier days.
